Meet Thomas.
Thomas is a 29 year old male, living in Mumbai. He has a wife and a 2 year old son.
He works as a marketing manager in a small company in the city, where he leads a team of ten people.
He studied in Bangalore and holds a degree in mechanical engineering. He loves playing football, goes running every weekend and spends way too much time on his bike.
He also loves reading and his favourite author is Jeffery Archer.
Here’s another fact about Thomas – He isn’t real.
Well, he could be. And if he was, I could get all those details from his Facebook and Instagram profile.
I could know so much about Thomas, and yet not know him.
I could know where he was last Sunday, or which country he travelled to last year, and not know if he is kind or rude, generous or miserly, or even if he has a good sense of humour or not.
Because there is a difference between knowing about someone and knowing someone.
We can say the same thing about God.
There is a difference between religion and relationship.
You can read the Bible, spend hours working in church, sing all the right songs, listen to all the right speakers, learn about church history and know so much about God, and yet miss out on knowing Him.
Like any friendship, it takes effort.
It takes spending time with Him, in getting to know Him, asking Him about Him, asking Him to reveal Himself.
It takes honesty and openness.
It involves asking Him to reveal what makes Him happy, and asking Him what breaks His heart.
And it involves you telling Him the same.
The thing is – He already knows everything about you. He knows you COMPLETELY.
He knows your thoughts and your feelings, your fears, your hopes, your dreams, your struggles and your desires.
He knows that thing you’ve done that you’re so ashamed of.
He knows the achievement that you are so proud of.
He knows who you love, and He knows who you hate.
And He wants you to know Him.
Why? Because knowing Him means joy.
Knowing Him means blessings that are beyond our imagination. Because knowing Him is life’s purpose.
That’s what Jesus came for. Before His death, that’s what He prayed.
“I have revealed you to the ones you gave me from this world”
John 17:6
Let that sink in today. That He has called you to know Him, and that invitation is the biggest, most exciting call that has ever existed.
And whatever fear is holding you back, whatever guilt or shame is causing you to run away or hide, or simply think you are not worth it, just please remember this.
He already knows the worst parts of you. And He still loves you.
Here’s a cover of Tauren Well’s song, KNOWN. We pray it blesses you.
A shoutout to the vocalist, Allan Dason Daniel, and keyboardist & producer, Royston Pais for being incredible blessings.
