I never had headaches when I was a kid. I had all sorts of other pains in my body, but never headaches – until very recently.
When I turned 30, I started getting these horrible migraines that would come and go. Although it started out as a minor inconvenience, in the last 3 months, it became unbearable. The headaches would last for days.
I’ve always hated the idea of taking pills, but these migraines would be so painful that I just couldn’t do any work, and I found myself so helpless.
Last week, I looked around my house and I was shocked by the number of bottles of balms and tablets in my room. I prayed constantly for the headaches to go away.
But last Sunday, something powerful happened.
I was in a Zoom session that I attend weekly, and we were learning about praying in the Spirit.
Towards the end of the session, we were praying, and one of the girls, who had no idea what I was going through (and who it turns out, was actually praying in the Spirit at that moment), reached out to me through Zoom’s private chat with a message –
“Forgive me if I’m wrong, but are you suffering from headaches and migraines.”
I freaked out.
Of course, I couldn’t tell her that.
I told her about how I’ve had constant headaches that have just refused to go.
She replied – “I feel God wants to heal you.”
She interrupted the meeting, and told everyone that they needed to pray for me.
And that’s just what they did.
There were tears in my eyes. It suddenly hit me that God saw me. He felt my pain. He wanted to heal me.
I was just very moved that God was with me in that moment.
You see, sometimes we say prayers and we don’t make too much of it. We tend to not think beyond the words that we’ve said.
But God is always there. He is always listening. He is always on the move.
I haven’t had a headache since that day. But I do think that if I had just prayed by myself and I had been healed, I might not have believed it was God. I might have just believed it was a coincidence.
I think God wanted to remind me that He is with me, and that’s why He used this girl to reach out and tell me.
Isn’t it just amazing that even if we don’t have that strong a faith, God finds a way to speak to us?
There’s a purpose behind everything He does. Maybe the way it all happened even strengthened others on the Zoom call. Maybe it’ll strengthen you as you who read this.
Because the truth is that God works in our midst. He really does, in magnificent ways.
I pray you believe that today. I pray you hear Him as He reaches out to you, and heals you.
