CHASING PURITY

March 2, 2017

“The Bible doesn’t set different standards of purity for men and women. It’s society that does. If you’re a woman who struggles with lust, know that you weren’t born with a manufacturing defect. You’re only as much in need of the Blood of Christ as a brother who struggles with the same issue.

Maybe something that happened in your childhood awakened your sexuality way before its time, maybe you’ve suffered abuse – all the devil has done is pervert and distort a natural need inside you. He stole something that Jesus intended to be a beautiful, whole experience and turned it into your worst nightmare – these experiences weren’t meant to be accompanied by shame, guilt or regret. So if there is anyone you should get mad at, its the Enemy. Not yourself, not whoever else you have been blaming.

You aren’t any dirtier than the sinner next to you. No matter how hard, how dark or how long, or what the reason for your struggle has been, the Blood is sufficient to cleanse you. Know that there is victory in the Blood!

Jesus loves you just the way you are – your struggle isn’t horrifying to Him. He doesn’t condemn you for being a woman who struggles with lust. He looks at you, struggles and all, calls you by name and says “Oh my love, how beautiful you are! There is no flaw in you!” (SOS 4:7)

You’ve been perfected by His perfect sacrifice. When heaven looks at you, it sees the woman you were meant to be. It sees the finished product. All of heaven is within your spirit, enabling you to become that woman, with you every step of this great adventure.

It takes courage to live in purity. For some of us, it takes the kind of reliance that keeps us on our faces, at His feet, everyday. It takes all the Grace heaven can spare for its definitely not anything we can do on our own. And so it takes courage, sister, to choose purity. But the choice is easy to make when you know how loved and accepted you are. When you know He’s holding your hand, smiling, believing in you regardless of how often you have fallen, telling you that you can do this with His help.

Choose purity today. Choose to live with courage.”

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. - Galatians 5:22-23
