The Wait

August 3, 2020

I sit in this chair all day.
Dawn turns to dusk.
Nobody comes.

I wait patiently.
Expectantly.
Hopeful of who will walk through the door.

Dusk turns to night.
I give up.
He is not going to come, I decide.

I get up.
With an extra leap of faith
I open the door.

Tears fill my eyes.
He looks tired.
He’s been knocking.
All day – without a break.

I let Him in.
He envelops me.
Gives me the biggest hug ever.

He knows.
Knows I am deaf.
That I couldn’t hear
But that didn’t stop Him from waiting.
From knocking.

The Savior of the world
Is grateful that a sinner let Him in.

Such love.
I don’t deserve it!

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. - Revelation 3:20
